Applied Graphene Materials update on revenues and future plans
Applied Graphene Materials states that early results for the first half of the current financial year suggest a performance that meets the company's expectations, with net cash of approximately £6.6m at the period end, January 31.
According to the company, operational priorities are customer sampling, developing customer relationships, performance data generation and ongoing enhancements to the manufacturing and dispersion processes. A reported 90% of AGM’s ongoing engagements are with its three core target markets of advanced composites, coatings and functional fluids.
An IDTechEx interview with AGM's business development manager
Claudio Marinelli, business development manager of Applied Graphene Materials, gave an interview at IDTechEx Graphene Live! where he talked about his company's process and products, his projections on the future of the graphene industry and more.
Applied Graphene Materials receives funding for two graphene research projects
Applied Graphene Materials, the British company which was admitted in the AIM in 2013, secures funding from Innovate UK for two graphene-related researches.
The company will team up with DuPont Teijin Films to explore the use and dispersion of graphene within polyester films, and also work with PolyPhotonix and CPI to work towards the development of graphene-based transparent electrodes.
Applied Graphene Materials reports financial loss of £2.7m
Applied Graphene Materials, the British company which was admitted in the AIM in 2013, reports a pre-tax loss of £2.7m (which rose from £0.8m) for the year to the end of July.
The company was established in 2010 as a spin-off from Durham University to develop a new graphene synthesis method and produce graphene materials, and is the proprietor of a unique patented 'bottom-up' CVD graphene production process.
AGM looks into graphene for aeroplanes, ships, vacuum cleaners, wind turbines and more
Bloomberg posted an interesting article on Applied Graphene Materials, the graphene maker that was established in 2010 as a spin-off from Durham University to develop a new CVD-based graphene synthesis method and produce graphene materials. The company's CEO, Jon MabbitT, details some interesting new applications they are trying to develop.
AGM is currently targeting two types of applications. First up are early-adopters, such as Formula 1 teams. But AGM is also looking to enter into long-term products - mainly in the aerospace industry. Graphene can enable stronger and lighter materials, suitable for aircraft. AGM is also working with Dyson (vacuum cleaner developer), Procter & Gamble, lubricants makers and wind-turbine developers. Finally, they are developing an impermeable rustproof coatings for ships.
AGM to collaborate with DuPont and others on two new government-funded projects
Applied Graphene Materials secured government funding for two one-year graphene projects from Innovate UK (previously known as the Technology Strategy Board). The first project will investigate the use and dispersion of graphene within polyester films in collaboration with DuPont Teijin Films.
For the second project, AGM will partner with CPI and PolyPhotonix to investigate the development of graphene-based transparent electrodes. Both projects are worth about £300,000 together, out of which AGM will fund about £100,000.
Smithers Apex announce an impressive speaker list for the first Graphene World Summit
Smithers Apex announced the speakers for the first Graphene World Summit, a graphene-focused event that will take place September 15-16 in Kerkeley, California. The speaker list is quite impressive - and it includes IBM, Argonne National Laboratory, Applied Graphene Materials, Grafoid, Bluestone Global Tech, Cambridge Graphene Center, Cientifica, Graphene Frontiers, Graphene Technologies, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), Graphenea, Strategic News Service, XG Sciences, Raytheon and more.
The summit will focus on bringing together the scientific and business communities. Planned sessions at event include the global path to standardization, innovation and commercialization; investment strategies; material development and production case studies; and game-changing applications and commercialization success stories.
Launching the Graphene-Info investor forums
I'm happy to announce our new investor forums. A lot of people are seeing a great future with graphene, and are interested in investing in the industry. In the past few months several pure-play graphene company went public, and now investors can use our new forums to get new ideas and share their information.

Applied Graphene Materials posts a $2 million loss in H2 2013
Applied Graphene Materials posted its first financial results since the company went public in November 2013. In the 2nd half of 2013, the company's pre-tax loss was £1.2 million ($2 million USD), up from £398,887 in the 2nd half of 2012.
AGM says that they have made good progress since November, and are now putting in place the building blocks to help them realize the potential of the business. Since the IPO the company generated more customer collaborations and hired some new key employees.
The UK's CPI built a 1-ton graphene demonstration plant for Applied Graphene Materials
The UK's Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) announced it completed Applied Graphene Materials' graphene "demonstration plant". This facility can produce up to 1 ton of graphene nanoplatelets in a year.
The CPI provided a turn-key design and build service for AGM. Applied Graphene Materials recently raised £10 million by going public in the UK's AIM stock exchange.
