G6 Materials launches new thermally conductive epoxy product line
G6 Materials, has announced the launch of a new thermally conductive G6-EPOXY product line.
The first new product is named “G6E-TSHV” and is a high thermally conductive, non-electrically conductive epoxy, while the second new product is named “G6E-TSAL” and is a thermally conductive, non-electrically conductive, low viscosity epoxy. Both new products are available in various size formats.
GIT’s graphene-based propeller coating to be used on EPS' ship fleet
Singapore-based ship management company, Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), has announced that it has teamed up with Canada-based coatings company Graphite Innovation & Technologies (GIT) to implement its graphene-based, biocide-free propeller coating across its fleet.
EPS plans to boost the performance of its vessels by applying GIT’s eco-friendly, highly durable, and ultra-low friction foul release coating, aiming to improve and maintain CII rating over the drydocking cycle.
Zentek announces R&D contract to test ZenARMOR nano-pigments in corrosion protection aerospace paint systems
Zentek recently announced a new research and development contract through Innovative Solutions Canada to test ZenARMOR™ nano-pigment in military grade, chromate-free, corrosion protection aerospace paint systems.
The testing will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Qi Yang, and Dr. Naiheng Song, Research Officers at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) Aerospace Research Centre’s Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies Centre (AMTC).
Zentek and Pattern Energy to collaborate on icephobic technology for wind turbine industry
Zentek has announced a collaboration with Pattern Energy Group to optimize, test and validate Zentek’s icephobic coating for the wind turbine industry. The partnership is being supported financially by both the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (“NSERC”) and PRIMA Quebec - Advanced Materials Moving Forward.
Pattern Energy develops, constructs, owns, and operates wind turbines and understands the lost efficiency and potential damage to the wind turbine itself and its surroundings that comes from ice accretion on these structures.
Ionic Industries announces first sale of its graphene geotextile
Ionic Industries has announced the signing of an agreement for the sale of its first product developed from the Company's portfolio of graphene technologies. Ionic Industries referred to the patented conductive coatings applied to geotextiles as 'one of the world’s first large-scale applications of graphene technologies'.
The supply agreement with GeoFabrics Australasia is for the supply of conductive, coated geotextile for sale by GeoFabrics as their Bidim-C product. The Bidim-C product is used to detect holes and potential leaks in newly constructed dams and water tank projects. The agreement is for the supply of Bidim-C over the next 12 months and will generate up to AUD$1,000,000 (over USD$664,000) in revenue for Ionic.
Gerdau Graphene launches two performance-enhancing graphene additives for water-based paints and coatings
Gerdau Graphene has launched two new additives specifically formulated for the paint and coatings industry: NanoDUR and NanoLAV. The new additives, produced with the company's proprietary G2D technology, utilize graphene nanoplatelets to deliver improved performance for water-based paints and coatings — without altering pH levels. The additives also reduce or eliminate the need for some traditional manufacturing inputs, additives, and processes, which can lower production costs while improving sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
"Until recently, it has been virtually impossible for coatings manufacturers to upgrade product performance, slash manufacturing costs, and improve sustainability at the same time — it simply couldn't be done. Now, the application of carbon nanomaterials, such as graphene, in commercially available additives has made this possible and will act as a game-changer for the industry," said Alexandre de Toledo Corrêa, CEO of Gerdau Graphene. "NanoDUR and NanoLAV represent the new performance, economic, and sustainability edge for coatings manufacturers, enabling them to leapfrog competitors across the value chain. These are the newest in our growing portfolio of graphene additives and we're excited to partner with industry leaders to develop even more novel, powerful applications for graphene."
Zentek updates on graphene-based icephobic technology for drones
Following its September 2022 announcement on testing of icephobic coating technology, Zentek has now reported successful drone testing, where thrust was maintained under calibrated icing conditions of freezing drizzle and freezing rain in an outdoor, real-world environment. The drone with Zentek's icephobic coating applied to the propeller blades hovered under the outdoor icing rig and, on all tests conducted, maintained flight until the end of the battery life of the drone. The same drone with uncoated propeller blades rapidly lost the ability to maintain flight, according to the Company.
Zentek shared that the coating is a functionalized graphene oxide augmented elastomer.
HydroGraph announces technology milestone for cost-effective modular commercial-scale unit for graphene production
HydroGraph Clean Power has announced that its patented Hyperion System, designed for scaled-up production of high-purity graphene, achieved a key technology milestone to produce commercial scale quantities graphene.
The Hyperion System will produce fractal graphene to serve various markets including lubricants, energy storage, resins, specialty chemicals, coatings and other markets. The validation process reportedly confirmed the capex cost per metric ton of graphene produced will be one of the lowest in the industry. The system can produce over 10 metric tons per year using readily available commodity acetylene and oxygen.
PETRONAS launches new graphene-based corrosion protection technology
Malaysian energy company PETRONAS has released a new graphene-based technology for corrosion protection. Called ProShield+, the product is a paint additive for steel structures developed in-house.
The composition is claimed to have three times the water barrier qualities of traditional epoxy paint, which helps to increase adhesion and resilience to abrasion and UV light. Major paint systems can be enhanced with ProShield+ to double the typical surface coating lifespan and extend it to up to 16 years, the company claims.
Stolt Tankers enters agreement with Graphite Innovations & Technology for graphene-based marine coating to be applied on 25 ships
Stolt Tankers and Graphite Innovations & Technology (GIT) have signed a two-year agreement to apply GIT’s XGIT-PROP graphene-based marine coating to the propellers of 25 Stolt Tankers ships during 2023.
XGIT-PROP is an eco-friendly, graphene-based product that reduces marine growth and improves propulsion efficiency while preventing harmful toxins or biocides from being released into the ocean. This application supports Stolt Tankers’ decarbonization ambitions and reinforces the company’s aim for sustainability.
