Asus has unveiled the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD, a gaming monitor that uses graphene for thermal management.
Asus did not yet reveal the price or shipping date of the PG49WCD monitor.
Graphene Square Electronics launches crowdfunding campaign for its Kitchen Styler
Graphene Square Electronics has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for what the Company calls "the first graphene powered appliance - Kitchen Styler".
According to Graphene Square Electronics, it is the "first and only appliance to use graphene as its sole source of heat". It is said to use CVD graphene in its design.
Haydale awarded SMART funding to bring graphene products to market
Haydale has announced that it has been awarded SMART Flexible Innovation Support ("SMART FIS") from The Welsh Government to accelerate the development of its graphene underfloor heating product and range of biomedical sensor inks.
As part of a new innovation strategy for Wales, aimed at supporting Welsh industry by increased investment in research, development, and innovation, SMART FIS will provide Haydale with funding totaling £182,843 over a two-year period. Part of this funding will enable Haydale to accelerate the development of its prototype graphene underfloor heating ("UFH") towards a market-ready CE product that can be tested in a home environment. It will support continued engagement with partners such as City Energy Network Ltd and Plumbase.
GMG updates on the commercialization efforts of its THERMAL-XR
Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) has provided an update on its THERMAL-XR (TXR) product, noting that since the recent Australian government approval for GMG to produce and sell Thermal-XR at scale, the company has driven sales activities and bolstered related production capacity.
GMG said important first sales at scale have recently been secured, including an order for over AUD$130,000 (over USD$86,770), and its efforts to widen potential market segments are finding positive reception, providing strong encouragement for continued sales focus targeting near-term notable revenues. The recent order for THERMAL-XR, from a large Australian eco-friendly resort for the coating of nearly 200 air conditioners, represents the largest single order for THERMAL-XR, the company said.
Haydale and City Energy develop graphene underfloor heating with Plumbase
Haydale has announced it is working with City Energy Network Limited and Plumbase Limited on developing and distributing its graphene underfloor heating ("UFH").
The ink heater technology applied to clothing worn by British athletes at the Tokyo Games has been applied in an initial prototype for domestic UFH with the potential to replace gas central heating and link into other energy efficient technologies.
Haydale reports its financial results for H1 FY2023
UK-based graphene developer Haydale announced its unaudited interim results for the six months ended 31 December 2022 (H1 FY2023). Revenues were £1.78 million (up 50% from H1 FY2022), and operating loss was £1.89 million (up from £1.75 million in 2022). At the end of the year, Haydale had £2.97 million, following a successful fund raise of £5.14 million in September 2022.

Researchers develop graphene-nanowire 'sandwich' thermal interface for better electronics
Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and MIT have demonstrated a 3D graphene-nanowire “sandwich” thermal interface that enables an ultralow thermal resistance of ∼0.24 mm2·K/W that is about 1 order of magnitude smaller than those of solders and several orders of magnitude lower than those of thermal greases, gels, and epoxies.
In addition, the new 3D graphene-nanowire “sandwich” thermal interface also boasts a low elastic and shear moduli of ∼1 MPa like polymers and foams. It exhibits excellent long-term reliability with >1000 cycles over a broad temperature range from −55 °C to 125 °C. This nanostructured thermal interface material can greatly benefit a variety of electronic systems and devices by allowing them to operate at lower temperatures or at the same temperature but with higher performance and higher power density.
Graphene-enhanced firefighting gear can reduce firefighters' rate of injury and mortality
Researchers from China's Xi’an Polytechnic University, Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences CAS) and Shaanxi Textile Research Institute have found that breathable electrodes woven into fabric used in fire suits have proven to be stable at temperatures over 520ºC. At these temperatures, the fabric is found to be essentially non-combustible with high rates of thermal protection time at the maximum values recorded so far for such technology at 18.91 seconds.
The results show the efficacy and practicality of Janus graphene/poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole), or PBO, woven fabric in making firefighting “smarter”, with aims to manufacture products on an industrial scale that are flame-retardant but also intelligent enough to warn the firefighter of increased risks while facing flames.

Xiaomi launches a new graphene baseboard heater
Xiaomi announced a new product, the Mijia Graphene Baseboard Heater (Fire Edition). The device uses two graphene-based heating elements, and has a simulated flame function that uses an integrated humidifier and LEDs to generate the flame appearance.
The Mijia Graphene Baseboard Heater is available now in China for pre-order for 1,299 yuan (around $180), and its retail price is expected to be 1,599 yuan (around $220).
