ZEN Graphene signs Agreement on low cost, high-yield graphene production process
ZEN Graphene Solutions has announced the signing of an initial agreement to in-license certain intellectual properties from a Canadian University that when combined with ZEN’s Albany Graphite, produces low cost, environmentally friendly graphene.
The production process rapidly exfoliates Albany Graphite into few layer graphene (FLG, 2-5 layers) with a conversion efficiency of over 90%. Previous work has reportedly demonstrated that the Albany Graphite was converted to graphene far more efficiently when compared to flake or metamorphic graphite. This advantage was said to be confirmed by recent testing using this new process.
ZEN Graphene Solutions awarded a USD$742,600 grant for graphene-enhanced concrete project
Zen Graphene Solutions recently announced that it has been awarded a $1,000,000 CAD (around $742,600 USD) grant that will accelerate ZEN’s graphene-enhanced concrete research and development project.
According to Zen, the grant may potentially help achieve the goal to provide cement-based composite products to the Ontario market by possibly early 2020. The grantor will reimburse 50% up to a maximum of $1,000,000 spent by ZEN on relevant expenses directly related to graphite purification, graphene production research, concrete additive research and large-scale graphene-enhanced concrete testing.
ZEN Graphene Solutions enters MOU with The University of Manchester
ZEN Graphene Solutions has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The University of Manchester in the UK.
The purpose of the MOU is to explore opportunities of collaboration in the areas of development and commercialization of graphene and other 2D materials and accelerate the adoption of these materials into commercially viable markets.
Zenyatta Ventures announces name change to ZEN Graphene Solutions
Zenyatta Ventures has announced that it has obtained TSX Venture Exchange approval and has changed its name from Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. to ZEN Graphene Solutions Ltd.. The name change reflects the Company’s decision to focus its development plans for the Albany Graphite Project on the graphene nano-material product opportunity.
The Company stated that the unique genesis and microcrystalline structure of the high-purity Albany Graphite mineralization gives ZEN a significant competitive advantage in producing mono-layer to few-layer graphene that is in the highest demand. The Company reported that it is presently assessing the various graphene conversion methods developed within its network of collaborative research partners with the goal of defining various scalable, low-cost, low-energy and environmentally friendly production methods.

Zenyatta Ventures has announced closing a private placement which raised $3,000,000 CAD (around $2.2 million USD).
These funds will be used for bulk sampling, environmental assessment and community engagement work on the Company’s Albany Graphite Project.
Zenyatta provides updates on fund-raising and graphene applications progress
Zenyatta Ventures has announced its plans to raise up to $3,000,000 CAD (around $2,240,000 USD) on a non-brokered private placement basis. The proceeds will be used for bulk sampling, environmental assessment and community engagement.
Zentayya also provided an update on its graphene market development work ,which has led to the creation of five significant potential market verticals for the Company which include aerospace, biomedical, water treatment, transportation and civil engineering.
Canada-based University of Guelph to receive grant for graphene research
A professor at the University of Guelph in Canada is receiving $1.4 million CAD (a little over $1 million USD) over the next seven years toward his research, which includes developing practical graphene applications. Prof. Aichen Chen was recently named as a tier-1 Canada Research Chair in electrochemistry and nanoscience, a title that came with the $1.4 million in funding.
For the past five years, Chen has been working with graphene â aiming to use it to create innovative green technologies for projects like energy storage and clean drinking water.
Zenyatta to collaborate with German Aerospace Center on graphene composites
Zenyatta Ventures has announced that it will be commencing a new research collaboration with the University of British Columbia (UBC)-Okanagan Campus and the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR, the German Aerospace Center) to investigate the potential use of Albany Graphite for graphene and graphene oxide in new composite materials.
Dr. Lukas Bichler, who will be leading the composite development project, said: UBC researchers have established a partnership with DLR, which seeks to provide unique educational and research opportunities for future engineers. Also, the partners bring together Canadian and European industry partners and allow effective technology transfer and rapid innovation.
Zenyatta raises over $500,000 USD in private placement
Zenyatta Ventures has announced the closing of the private placement announced earlier this year. Approximately $712,000 CAD (around $535,200 USD) was raised in respect of the equity offering.
The funds will be used for general expenses of the Company, including the advancement of the Albany project, initiating an Environmental Assessment, and other corporate expenses.
