Nova Graphene signs MOU to co-develop graphene-enhanced polymer sheeting and greases

Canada-based Nova Graphene has signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop graphene-enhanced polymer sheeting and greases in Australia.

The value of the deal was not announced, but it was finalized during a Team Canada trade mission to Australia. Nova Graphene's CEO, Paul Beasant, is part of the mission, and a news release describes the MOU as “a significant step toward advancing the development and commercialization of cutting-edge graphene applications in the Indo-Pacific region.”

The Canadian trade mission aims to promote Canadian innovation and develop business in the Indo-Pacific region. “The Indo-Pacific region represents one of the most dynamic economic opportunities in the world, and we’re excited to collaborate with industry leaders in Australia to push the boundaries of graphene innovation,” said Beasant. “Through these partnerships, we are not only expanding Nova Graphene’s global footprint but also positioning Canada as a leader in advanced materials.”

“Graphene is no longer just a breakthrough material — it’s a driving force behind innovation in nearly every industry imaginable. From energy storage to construction, health care to aerospace, graphene’s potential is limitless. We’re only scratching the surface of what’s possible, and Canada is poised to lead in this transformation.”

At a time when Canadian businesses are looking for business opportunities that don’t involve the United States, Australia and other Commonwealth countries represent “an incredible opportunity for economic diversification, with Australia serving as a prime example of how trade, innovation, and collaboration can drive prosperity,” Beasant said.

“By strengthening partnerships within the Commonwealth, Canada can unlock new markets, foster technological exchange, and build a more resilient economy that thrives on shared values and mutual success.

“The Maritimes have established themselves as global leaders in advanced materials and cutting-edge research and development. Our region’s expertise spans sectors such as aerospace, marine technology, and advanced manufacturing.”
