Grafoid to acquire ALCERECO for $1.15 million
Grafoid announced that it is going to acquire ALCERECO for $1.25 million CAD (about $1.15 million USD). ALCERECO is a technology company that develops, tests and produces advanced materials, composites, alloys and coatings. The company's best known materials are aluminum-scandium alloys, specialty ceramics, rare earths and advanced composite materials.
ALCERECO caters for several markets, including aerospace, automotive, electronics, sporting goods, infrastructural and mining sectors. The company has a global customer base and production facilities that Grafoid says can be used to develop innovative, scalable processes to bring new MesoGraf graphene-based materials to market.
Smithers Apex announce an impressive speaker list for the first Graphene World Summit
Smithers Apex announced the speakers for the first Graphene World Summit, a graphene-focused event that will take place September 15-16 in Kerkeley, California. The speaker list is quite impressive - and it includes IBM, Argonne National Laboratory, Applied Graphene Materials, Grafoid, Bluestone Global Tech, Cambridge Graphene Center, Cientifica, Graphene Frontiers, Graphene Technologies, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), Graphenea, Strategic News Service, XG Sciences, Raytheon and more.
The summit will focus on bringing together the scientific and business communities. Planned sessions at event include the global path to standardization, innovation and commercialization; investment strategies; material development and production case studies; and game-changing applications and commercialization success stories.
Launching the Graphene-Info investor forums
I'm happy to announce our new investor forums. A lot of people are seeing a great future with graphene, and are interested in investing in the industry. In the past few months several pure-play graphene company went public, and now investors can use our new forums to get new ideas and share their information.
If you want to post a new forum topic, contact us and we will setup your new account. Registered users can also post comments on graphene-info stories (and forum topics) without approval.
Happy conversing and good luck with your investments...
Grafoid and Altamat to develop graphene-based 3D printing powders and filaments
Grafoid signed an agreement with Altamat to construct an atomization facility to produce MesoGraf graphene-based powders and filaments for 3D printing. The agreement gives Grafoid an exclusive global right to apply technologies invented by Altamat's Dr. Henein for use in a wide range of functionalized powders for 3D printing applications.
Altamat is an advanced materials manufacturing consultancy founded by Dr. Henein, who has expertise in materials process engineering for metals, metallic alloys and composites. The atomization facility will be built at Grafoid's facility located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Grafoid and Mitsui to jointly identify and develop graphene opportunities in Japan
Grafoid announced that they signed a two-year agreement with Mitsui to identify and develop market opportunities in Japan for Grafoid’s MesoGraf materials.
The two companies will jointly undertake a one-year detailed market feasibility study to identify and evaluate market opportunities. They will then continue to formalize industrial and commercial development projects in Japan. Grafoid says that this agreement comes after months of discussions and independent laboratory validation and characterization of their materials.
Focus Graphite invests $1.38 million in Grafoid
Focus Graphite approved plans to invest $1.5 million CAD (about $1.38 million USD) in Grafoid. Focus Graphite also said that Grafoid recently closed a financing round with Blackwall Capital Markets and a "Friends and Family" private placement. In July 2013 Grafoid raised $3.5 million and I'm not sure if that's the Blackwall deal Focus Graphite refers to.
Grafoid's financing should bring them closer to the construction of their MesoGraf production facilities. Mesograf is Grafoid's graphene-based material announced about 8 months ago. Grafoid collaborates with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and their new spin-off company Graphite Zero on the production, development and marketing of this material.
Grafoid and ProScan Rx Pharma to co-develop graphene-based cancer thermal treatment platform
Grafoid and ProScan Rx Pharma announced a new joint-venture partnership to develop MesoGraf graphene-based nanotechnology platform for the precise targeting and thermal eradication of solid cancer tumors. This new platform aims to overcome the side effects and strong limitations of common cancer therapies.
The two companies established a new company called Calevia. Grafoid invested in Calevia and will co-manage the company. The new company will first target prostate cancer using ProScan’s anti-PSMA antibody. The new company will use a partially edge-functionalized MesoGraf derivative called MesoGraf Xide. This nanomaterial instantly transforms near infrared (NIR) light into heat.
Grafoid raises $3.5 million from private investors on the way to MesoGraf mass production
Grafoid announced today that they completed a new funding round from private investors, raising just over $3.5 million USD. Earlier in 2013 the company raised a further $1.5 million, which means the company raised over $5 million USD since the beginning of 2013.
The company says that this financing round brings them a step closer to the consruction of their MesoGraf production facilities. Mesograf is Grafoid's graphene-based material announced two months ago. Grafoid collaborates with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and their new spin-off company Graphite Zero on the production, development and marketing of this material.
Grafoid to mass produce affordable high-quality graphene materials called MesoGraf
Grafoid sent us some very interesting news today as the company launched their graphene-based material platform called MesoGraf. They say that they will able to mass produce high-quality graphene at affordable prices. The National University of Singapore (NUS) launched new spin-off company called Graphite Zero which will handle the development and production of MesoGraf. Grafoid holds the majority stake in the new company, and will handle business development and marketing for the new material.
Grafoid says that they have managed to create a low-cost process that will enable them to mass produce graphene Mesograf materials. They say that their one-step chemical process is non-destructive and is environmentally sustainable.
Grafoid and the University of Waterloo to jointly develop graphene based materials for fuel cells and supercapacitors
Grafoid have signed a two-year R&D agreement with the University of Waterloo to investigate and develop a graphene-based composite for fuel cells and super-capacitors for the automotive and/or portable electronics sectors. The new material can be used to make electrodes, nanocatalyst support, electrolyte membranes and bipolar plates, transparent electrodes and other potential applications.
Grafoid also says that they expect to announce several additional development projects in 2013. Grafoid is a private company based in Canada that produces graphene on a commercial scale using their proprietary extraction process. Grafoid is partly (40%) owned by Focus Metals.
