AEH attracts a £3.5 million investment to advance its graphene-based vertical farming system

UK-based AEH Innovative Hydrogel Limited announced that the company received a £3.5 million investment from agri-tech leader Terra Sana Holdings.

AEH, established in 2018 and located at Manchester University's GEIC center, develops food-based fully recyclable hydroponic gel, based on a graphene material technology, which is designed to reduce food production costs, improve quality and lower environmental impact.

UK-based Paragraf raises $60 million in its latest financing round

UK-based graphene developer Paragraf has raised $60 million from the UK's Future Fund, the CIA-backed In-Q-Tel and other investors. The funds will be used to accelerate the company's device development, production and market launch.

Paragraf produces its own CVD graphene materials, which it then uses to create devices for the sensor, energy and semiconductor markets. The company introduced its first product, a graphene-based hall-effect sensor back in 2020, and it has recently concluded a study to test the deployment of graphene as an OLED electrode material.

Graphene EMI material developer nanoEMI raises a 250,000 Euro seed round

Poland-based nanoEMI announced that it has raised around 250,000 Euro in its seed round, from GT Technologies, a Poland-based VC. The company says that the funds will help it scale up its production capabilities for graphene and composite materials.

nanoEMI focuses on EMI shielding applications, and produces its own graphene using two different methods (exfoliation in isopropyl alcohol and in castor oil), at its own pilot production line.

G6 Materials reports its latest financial results

G6 Materials has published its financial results for the quarter that ended on November 30, 2021. Revenues reached $320,000 (a 6% decrease from the last quarter), while the net loss decreased by 7% to $610,000.

G6M updates that it has recently secured an exclusive five-year supply agreement with an EU-based global microconnector company. G6 shall supply its products for a variety of smartcard applications. The company's subsidiary Graphene Laboratories had also recently entered into a Testing Services Agreement with the U.S. Army Engineer Research & Development Center to assess the ability of graphene oxide materials to solve environmental challenges through the adsorptive removal of contaminants.

Skeleton Technologies closes €37.6 million D3 financing round

Skeleton Technologies has announced its Round D3 with 37.6 million euros of equity investments. The Round was led by Taavet Hinrikus, from Taavet+Sten with Nidoco AB, EIT Innoenergy, Bengt Wahlqvist, co-founder of battery charging specialist CTEK, a group of founding team members of Adyen and others joining.

The investments will be aimed at further scale-up of supercapacitor production in Saxony, Germany, to meet customer demand and continuing the development of supercapacitor and curved graphene technology in new battery products.

First Graphene closes strong quarter, expects commercial success

First Graphene has reported a 94% growth in revenue at the end of the second quarter of the 2022 financial year. The continued growth and momentum puts the company in a strong position to achieve its 2022 targets.

The Company states that is has achieved several milestones over the last quarter. For example, the launch of PureGRAPH, a range of enhanced conductive coatings from nanotechnology developer Protectology, has opened the path to the lucrative European coatings market. The commercial agreement between Protectology will grow a range of PureGRAPH enhanced coatings marketed under the PROGRAPH® brand.

Lyten receives National Security Innovation Capital contract to accelerate graphene battery technology

Earlier this month, graphene-enhanced batteries developer Lyten was commissioned by the U.S DIU to demonstrate battery technology for space applications. Now, Lyten has announced that it has received a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) National Security Innovation Capital (NSIC) program to aid in expanding the capacity of its domestic battery prototype manufacturing and production capabilities.

The funding from NSIC will help reduce the time to market for Lyten's LytCell lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries by increasing the number of cells that can be produced per year at its battery cell pilot production line, currently being built at its headquarters in San Jose, California.

First Graphene secures Innovate UK funding for supercapacitor research

Last month, First Graphene (FGR) announced a milestone in its program to develop high performing supercapacitor materials. Now, the Company announced it has been awarded funding from Innovate UK EDGE to progress development work on its supercapacitor graphene hybrid materials with a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) based in the United Kingdom.

The Innovate EDGE fund supports high-growth small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to scale up and innovate, working alongside the UK’s RTO and Catapult Network. The Company will engage with world-leading experts at the Energy Innovation Centre based at Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) part of the Catapult Network.

Advanced Material Development secures InnovateUK grant for work on nanomaterials-based gas sensors

Advanced Material Development recently announced a new InnovateUK Analysis 4 Innovators grant to work on validating its next generation novel nanomaterial-based gas sensors. AMD is working with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) on the development and testing of devices using advanced testing equipment, and measurement and analysis experience.

The next generation of air quality monitors will rely on low power sensing elements which can be connected remotely to support more detailed and localized emissions monitoring. This three-month project seeks to validate novel nanomaterial-based sensors which AMD has recently developed utilizing its functionalized nanomaterials. For instance, AMD's Photonic Crystal work incorporates various nanomaterials into the polymeric structure, of which graphene is the main constituent.
