Established in 2019 in Malaysia, Graphjet Technology supplies sustainable low-cost graphene, graphite and graphene-based anode materials.
Leveraging a novel patented technology that recycles palm kernel shells from palm oil production, Graphjet creates high-quality, single layer graphene and artificial graphite for electric vehicle (EV) batteries, medical devices, and home appliances. Its proprietary process reportedly ensures at least 98% similarity to their natural counterparts, which is much more consistent compared to other petroleum coke and coal based synthetic graphite and graphene solutions.
The Company is constructing its first manufacturing plant in the Kuantan district of Pahang State, and expects to open it with an annual output of 10,000 tons of graphite and 60 tons of graphene, while processing 30,000 tons of dried palm kernel waste.
Its collaborations span globally recognized universities like MIT and the University of Manchester, alongside partnerships with local institutions in Malaysia and Japan. Moreover, its alliance with the World Economic Forum on sustainable initiatives marks its commitment to facilitating the energy transition and underscores its role in the broader industrial and environmental ecosystem through membership in the Industrial Liaison Program (ILP).
