Last updated on Fri 22/07/2022 - 14:54

The Technical University of Denmark's Center for Nanostructured Graphene (CNG) is offering a PhD scholarship in Nanopatterned non-planar Graphene Devices.

Responsibilities and tasks

The position concerns patterning of graphene and substrates using high-resolution electron beam lithography, developing of strategies for fast, reliable and clean sample fabrication, development of new sample device designs and concepts based on nanopatterning in the sub-20 nm range with a particular focus on non-planar, deformed, out-of-plane and/or strained graphene based on grown as well as exfoliated graphene. Electrical characterization at low and high temperature are needed as are device simulations, and close collaborations with device theorists.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. Additional skills that will count strongly in favour of the candidate are:

  • electron beam lithography with very high densities
  • experience with graphene device fabrication
  • independence, innovation, creativity and problem solving abilities
  • experience with standard silicon microfabrication techniques
  • mastering of graphene physics and technology.

Approval and Enrolment

The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

Salary and appointment terms

The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
