The Department of Physics is looking for research scientist or post-doctoral researcher for work with graphene-related materials and hydrogen storage. It has a staff of approximately 100 people, among them are 13 professors, 30 other teachers and postdocs, 10 technical/administrative staff, and about 40 PhD students. The department is involved in undergraduate and graduate education, as well as in research. Excellent research facilities are available for experiments.
The research is part of project with specific target on development of new graphene-related materials optimized for gas storage applications (e.g. hydrogen storage), study of their structure and adsorption properties.
The position is a full time employment over a period of one year with possible extension by one year more and maximal duration two years. Expected start of work is April- June 2016.
Competence requirements: candidates with previous documented experience in the field of graphene-related materials, hydrogen storage materials, measurements of hydrogen adsorption and/or synthesis and characterization of carbon materials. Experience with X-ray diffraction, Raman and FTIR spectroscopy is highly desirable. The candidates are expected to demonstrate strong motivation and ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment. Emphasis will also be placed on personal qualities such as collaboration and communication skills, analytical capacity and ability to take initiative. It is important that you have an ability to work independently, plan and perform experimental work, present results and prepare manuscripts for publication. You will work in an international environment and, therefore, very good oral and written communication skills in English are required.
To be eligible for the postdoctoral position you should have a less than three years old PhD in physics, chemistry or material science are encouraged to apply. There is no age limitation for research scientist position, both young and experienced researchers can be considered.
The application: Interested candidates are encouraged to contact to Dr. Alexandr Talyzin (alexandr.talyzin@physics.umu.se) enclosing (1) a Curriculum Vitae with list of publications, (2) names and contact information to at least three reference persons and (3) a cover letter with summary of research interests and motivation. Selected candidates will be contacted for telephone interviews. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
