Versarien to develop graphene-enhanced sportswear with Asian partner
Versarien recently shared it has signed a letter of intent with its textile collaboration partner to launch sportswear containing Versarien's graphene ink technology.
Versarien said the letter is non-binding, covering the intention of Versarien and the undisclosed Asia-headquartered company partner to "enter into a formal commercial relationship regarding an initial launch of high performance sportswear".
Versarien receives graphene orders from Japanese automotive company
Versarien, UK-based advanced materials engineering group, has announced that it has secured its first graphene orders from the North American corporate research and development center of a Japanese headquartered company. This customer was described as a global automotive components company that has operations in over 40 countries, employing in excess of 250,000 people.
After initial graphene quality testing trials, the Customer has placed development orders for 1kg each of Versarien's high purity graphene nano platelets ("GNP-HP") and Nanene. The Customer's principle operations focus on leading-edge automotive materials and process development, and the development of next-generation, vehicle-related, information and communications technology.
Versarien receives first U.S graphene order
Versarien has announced that it has secured its first graphene order from a U.S-based company. Versarien stated that the American customer had successfully conducted laboratory testing and industrial trials prior to placing the order for 12kg of Versarien’s high purity graphene product. The graphene, in the form of high purity nano platelets, is integrated into an enhanced material which can be used in various ways - from graphene-enhanced plastic to packaging solutions and household items.
Versarien’s new customer reportedly intends to use the graphene material in down-hole drilling components for their initial scale up process. Should this scale up be successful, Versarien expects to receive additional orders that are likely to be significantly larger.
Versarien partners With BP Polymers to develop a graphene-enhanced barrier resin
Versarien recently updated that it partnered with BP Polymers to develop a new version of BP's barrier resin, Kortrax, incorporating Versarien's graphene.
Kortrax is a polyamide-based barrier resin which improves both the chemical permeability performance profile and the oxygen transfer rate of resin containers, the company explained.
Versarien fully operational at its new U.S office and laboratory facility in the U.S
Versarien has updated that it is now fully operational at its new U.S office and laboratory facility in Houston, Texas, which is designed to act as a hub for the Company’s activities in North America.
The establishment of this U.S hub has already enabled the Company to accelerate its progress in North America with various new partners, in addition to the work it has been undertaking with the US National Graphene Association and various existing collaboration partners in the region.
Versarien reports progress on collaboration with Beijing Institute of Graphene Technology
Versarien recently reported that it has signed a term sheet with Beijing Institute of Graphene Technology covering the proposed cooperation between the parties to develop Versarien's graphene business in China.
Subject to the completion of due diligence and the entering into of formal documentation, the term sheet will see Beijing Institute assisting Versarien with the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary in China. The subsidiary would focus on the manufacture of Versarien's graphene and other 2D materials in China and their sale to Chinese customers.
MediaDevil launches graphene-enhanced earphones
MediaDevil, a UK-based maker of various phone, laptop and tablet accessories, is selling the Artisanphonics CB-01 Earphones - Noise-isolating Premium Wood Earphones with Nanene Graphene-Enhanced Audio.
These earphones, enhanced with Versarien's Nanene material, reportedly sport an earphone diaphragm that is thinner and more flexible than traditional materials can allow. MediaDevil says that independent testing conducted by a leading British premium audio company found that, remarkably, Nanene enhances both the high-end (treble) and the low-end (bass) of the audio frequency wave.
Versarien receives Graphene Council's seal of approval as part of its "Verified Graphene Producer" program
Versarien has announced that it is the first graphene company in the world to successfully complete the Graphene Council's "Verified Graphene Producer" program.
The US-based Graphene Council's Program is an independent, third party verification system that involves a physical inspection of the production facilities, a review of the entire production process, a random sampling of product material and rigorous characterization and testing by a leading, international materials laboratory. The Program is based on the most recent developments in globally recognized graphene standards, surveys of graphene producers, researchers and users, as well as analysis of commercially available graphene products.
Versarien progresses partnership with Tunghsu to expand in China
Versarien has announced that it has signed an agreement with Tunghsu Optoelectronic Technology to further progress their relationship. The agreement supports the memorandum of understanding signed in November last year. The parties intend to establish a joint implementation committee, composed of three members from each firm, with a view to ultimately entering into a manufacturing joint venture. However, Versarien said there can be no guarantee this outcome will ultimately be achieved.
The materials engineering company plans to work with Tunghsu to develop and manufacture in China new generation graphene heaters. These heaters are expected to be based on the micro-flow graphene ink technology from Versarien's subsidiary Cambridge Graphene.
