MSI uses graphene composite in its graphic cards for improved durability and heat transfer
Update: the MSI RTX 3000 graphene-enhanced GPUs are now shipping
MSI, a global computer hardware manufacturer, has revealed that it is utilizing graphene composites in its RTX 3000 series GPUs.
It seems that the graphene composite parts are replacing the backplate, traditionally made of plastic, and provide greater heat dissipation performance and better stiffness to handle the weight of the entire card while still weighing less than plastics.
Nanotech Energy launches EMI Shielding product line
Nanotech Energy has announced the debut of Nanotech EMI Armor Paint & Sheets, graphene powered coatings and films for electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) shielding, as well as heat management.
The EMI Shielding line currently contains six products all of which are said to be highly conductive and provide excellent external EMI/RFI protection while also preventing internal EMI/RFI leaks. The products can be sprayed, brushed, rolled or dip-coated onto various surfaces, such as glass, plastic and metal depending on the specific product used.
Xiaomi launches a graphene-based smart heating mattress
Xiaomi recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for its new graphene-based smart heating mattress. The graphene layer in the mattress is used to generate heat, and according to the company the graphene enables uniform heating without the overheating or overcooling problems that are inherent in traditional heating mattress.
Xiaomi offers two kinds of graphene blankets - a single mattress at 299 Yuan (about $43) and a double one at 499 Yuan (about $73). The crowdfunding campaign has already attracted over 3,500 supporters and raised over 1.5 million Yuan.
GrapheneCA launches new graphene-based antimicrobial coating
Graphene supplier and product manufacturer Nano Graphene (AKA GrapheneCA) has announced that it is adding a new antimicrobial product to protect glass surfaces in public and private places from dangerous microorganisms.
GrapheneCA has developed a new graphene-improved ceramic-based coating with a built-in antimicrobial additive for protection of various types of glass for up to 2 years. The superhydrophobic coating constantly guards surfaces, which is particularly important in-between the regular cleaning cycles. Produced jointly with a global aerospace specialty coating maker, the antimicrobial product is user-friendly and easy to apply. Once applied, it dries within 20 minutes, and is invisible to the human eye.
SpaceBlue launches graphene-enhanced flooring product called SpaceMat
SpaceBlue, a UK-based start-up company, has launched the first of a range of products aimed at reducing wastage from vehicle tires, supported by the Graphene Engineering Innovation Center's (GEIC) ERDF Bridging the Gap program at The University of Manchester.
In conjunction with the GEIC, Dr. Vivek Koncherry developed SpaceMatâa flooring product that uses graphene to improve the performance of recycled tire rubber compared to previous efforts.
Haydale announces iCraft Order, global exclusivity contract and £3 Million fundraise
Haydale has announced that, following the announcement on March 2020 regarding its graphene nano-platelets having been incorporated into iCraft’s cosmetic face mask sheet, a contract is now in place for 1 metric tonne of graphene nano-platelets (GNP-02-STD) in the first year, 2 metric tonnes in the second year, and three metric tonnes in the third year. This is an exclusive agreement for the mask application within the APAC region, excluding Thailand.
Haydale has signed a worldwide exclusivity contract to supply functionalized graphene nano-platelets for use in these sheet masks that are face-shaped sheet fabrics which utilize the thermal and electrical conductivity of graphene to help the skin absorb its contents through bioelectric currents. In addition, Haydale said it has completed a GBP3.0 million equity raise.
Indian Motorcycle launches graphene-based ClimaCommand Classic Seat technology
U.S-based motorcycle maker Indian Motorcycle has launched a new graphene-based technology Called ClimaCommand Classic Seat, which aims to deliver both heating and cooling to riders and passengers. The thermo-electric technology reportedly raises the bar on cooling, providing a much more effective solution than HVAC convection systems.
A critical performance benefit of the ClimaCommand technology is that it actually produces a surface that’s cold to the touch, rather than merely pushing cool air through perforations in the surface in the manner that HVAC system offerings operate.
Alé releases the Velocity G+ graphene-enhanced cycling jersey
Alé Cycling recently released a graphene-enhanced cycling shirt called the Velocity G+ jersey. The new jersey sells for around £230 and uses a graphene-based fabric that Alé claims allows an active interaction between the body and the fabric.
Alé says that this new G+ fabric is able to effectively equalize body temperature, creating the ideal microclimate to keep cyclists comfortable even in the most unpleasant weather conditions.
AbsoluteBlack launches new graphene-based chain lube product
UK-based cycling brand AbsoluteBlack has added a new graphene chain lube product to its portfolio, which comes with considerable promises of efficiency, impressive watt savings, and a rather high price.
The cycling brand's newly developed hydrocarbon lubricant contains graphene, and AbsoluteBlack claims that its formulation has outstanding durability per application, delivering reduced friction for prolonged periods of use.
Honor 10X to sport graphene cooling system
It has been reported that Honor will introduce the Honor X10 at the end of this month, and that it will feature a graphene-based cooling system.
The phone is expected to be the cheapest 5G model to come from Huawei, so it may get a little warmer than regular smartphones. Thanks to the graphene-based cooling system, the phone will have better heat protection.
